Ms. Read kicked off the meeting by thanking the PTO for all the generous teacher gifts, the fun lunch, and the wonderful holiday parties prior to winter break. The staff and students had a blast! She also wanted to give a huge shoutout about the new library furniture. All the new items are set up and the students and staff have enjoyed using the new seating. It is flexible and group work is much easier now. Ms. Read is excited for the Math and Science fair!
Ms. Read shared her plan for creating and selecting a new school mural. The plan was put together to try and get the entire school involved in deciding on the style and theme. She would like the students to be able to submit their ideas and have voting on a final design. The PTO and Ms. Read will connect to figure out what is needed from the PTO for this project.
Ms. Marek also thanked the PTO for the new library furniture. The flower petal chairs have been a huge hit with the students. She is thrilled with the new setup - itl really aids the students to best support their learning. Ms. Marek also shared that she is working on an author visit to be scheduled in May. They have a date and author and more details will be released soon.
Ms. Read is working on the Ledo’s pizza box fundraiser with Ms. Colton, the art teacher. The fundraiser will start with kindergarten and 4th grade and will be rolled out by the end of the month.
Parent teacher conferences are scheduled for Monday, February 3rd. The PTO will create a signup genius for parents to volunteer to bring in food items for the teachers lounge.
Ms. Read will be setting the Hearing and Vision dates soon.
There is a district-run 5th/6th grade adventure day to be scheduled at the end of April/early May. The date will be set soon. The district does much of the planning and scheduling.
The electronic student directory has been sent out.
The board president is working on the Board Member succession planning for the 2025/2026 school year. They will announce open roles soon and will put out the ballot by early May. The biggest needs currently are the VP and VP Programs positions.
The two winners of the SPTO - Scholarship will be determined after Spring Break. The winners will be invited to an all school assembly to share their essays to the whole school.
The next fun lunch is scheduled for Friday, February 7th.
The 6th Grade Stepping Up events will take place on June 4th. The plan is to have the after party at the VFW hall. Volunteers are already in place for next year's 6th grade celebration and will be shadowing this year's events. More information will be sent out via parent square with volunteer opportunities.
Trivia Night is coming up on Friday, January 31st. All is going well with the planning and the money raised from the event will go towards author visits. The Adult Social scheduled for March 10th is now being advertised with an initial planning meeting to take place in mid-January. The push now will be to start planning all the classroom, social, and staff parties and securing auction items for the website. The Fun Fair will be on April 25th. The planning is in the early stages at this time.
The retail fundraisers are going well and the next one is scheduled for March 12th with Noodles and Company.
A link will be sent out shortly for parents to upload photos to be included in the Yearbook. Pictures from boy and girl scouts are needed as well as classroom pictures.
