Friday, November 17th, 7:00 pm in the Gurrie Gym

The 2017 Spring Ave. VARIETY SHOW is looking for acts...singers, dancers, instrumentalists, jugglers, magicians, comedians, actors, etc.

TODAY: Begin by e-mailing Virginia Kogen and Sheila Bryck (springvariety2017@gmail.com) with your act concept and song choice(s). Keep in mind:

All acts require a parent sponsor who should be available to attend all the dates outlined below.
Acts should be no longer than 3 minutes.
Each student is allowed to participate in a maximum of 2 acts.
Songs must be school appropriate. Unsuitable lyrics should be edited or omitted. When in doubt, ask!

The following types of acts can perform this year:

Large group acts may be same gender of a homeroom or grade level, whole homeroom, or whole grade.
Individual acts to showcase your talents (a singer may use a student accompanist)

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13th: The Variety Show Participant Form is due here or go to the PTO website. This form is crucial in helping us layout the program to acknowledge all the STARS OF THE SHOW.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8th: Show Us Your Act, Spring Ave Gym. 2:30 P.M. (time is tentative)

You should have at least 85% of your act prepared for us to preview. This helps us line up the show.
Bring a labeled CD or flash drive that contains only your selected music. Digital versions of your music are acceptable too. You will be notified if your music cannot be opened or accessed for any reason.
Bring a typed, hard copy of your lyrics for review. Lyrics must be school appropriate. Consider submitting lyrics ahead of time to Virginia Kogen and Sheila Bryck (springvariety2017@gmail.com) for review. We will ask you to choose a different song if the lyrics are inappropriate or offensive.
All participants should attend.
You will be assigned a specific time to "show us your act" by Monday October 23rd.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14th: Dress Rehearsal, Gurrie Gym 6 P.M.

Full dress rehearsal on stage. Wear costumes and bring all necessary props.
Bring a completed large poster to announce your act on the night of the show.
All participants in the act must attend.
Specific rehearsal times will be assigned by Monday, November 9th.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17th, 7:00 pm: Variety Show Performance, Gurrie Gym. The participants should be supervised by the act sponsor to keep the group together and seated while waiting for their turn.
